Bachelor of Science in Business Administration

The VIU Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) program prepares students for leadership positions in the 21st century global marketplace. Future business leaders will be prepared to balance the goals of economic success with the constraints of greater social and environmental responsibility. Students are taught by distinguished interdisciplinary faculty who are experts in their fields. VIU students learn to integrate changing human and information resources with continually developing technology, while nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit that has always been a key characteristic of successful business management. The School of Business offers three concentrations for the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. They are Finance, International Business and Marketing.

 

The BSBA degree at VIU is earned by completing a total of 40 courses (120 credit hours). This program is generally completed within eight (8) semesters. Both on-campus and online BSBA programs are offered.

When students enter the BSBA program, they will complete the seven (7) mandatory courses (21 credit hours) essential to the future business administrator. Students will continue to take their General Education Core (GEC) courses with three (3) courses (9 credit hours) from the social sciences and two (2) courses (6 credit hours) from the laboratory sciences, for a total of 12 GEC courses (36 credit hours). Students will continue their education with eight (8) Foundational Core courses (24 credit hours) and 10 Professional Core courses (30 credit hours). Students are also required to take four (4) elective courses (12 credit hours). In their third and fourth years of study, students specialize and take six (6) concentration courses (18 credit hours) in finance, international business, or marketing.
