Discover with us the unknown history of Poland. We invite you to the educational screening of the Polish film: “Clouds of Death Bolimów, 1915”. The screening will take place on November the 9th at 5:00 p.m., in aula 4. The initiator of the event is the Rector of the Vistula University, Professor Wawrzyniec Konarski, who will lead a panel discussion after the film, with the participation of the director of the picture, Ireneusz Skruczaj, and Piotr Ko?ci?ski, PhD.

Vistula University is an institution with aspirations, and readily creates space for the exchange of knowledge, clashes of views, and inspiring events. The screening of the film “Clouds of Death Bolimów, 1915”, and the discussion that will accompany it, fits in with this philosophy.

“Clouds of Death – Bolimów 1915” is a full-length, fictionalised documentary about some of the dramatic events that took place during the First World War.  Near Bolimów, at that time, the Germans launched attacks, using combat gases. It was the first time in history that chemical weapons had been used on a massive scale. Effective battle scenes and the most modern film-making techniques, allow you to enter a world that no longer exists, to understand the mechanism of evil.

In the years 1914-1915, the powerful armies of the three partitioning powers – the Russian Empire, the German Empire, and Austria-Hungary – clashed with each other at the Battle of Bolimów. Almost 100,000 people died in the battle – soldiers and civilians. The course of these events was first described in the 1960s, by the French writer André Malraux.
